God is providing-Don't Miss It!

Isaiah 43:18-19Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

Do you not see it? God is doing a new thing!

There are a lot of verses in the Bible where we--as children of God-- are promised provision from the Lord. But if we focus too much on the way we expect God to provide for us, we can totally miss out on what He is actually doing in our lives.

When we think about the Lord's provision, the way we expect Him to show up for us is a direct reflection of what feel we are lacking in the moment. For example, a lot of us feel that we are lacking monetarily, so we expect the Lord's provision to come monetarily. However, we must remember that the Lord's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, so when we cry out to Him as Jehovah Jireh, our provider, we must surrender and receive the Lord's provision in any way that it comes.

Did you wake up this morning with a sound mind and a healthy body? Did someone comp a beverage on your order recently? Did you have a conversation with a friend that helped you gain a better perspective this past week? Were you driving to work and all the lights were green? Did God wake you up just in time when you started falling asleep behind the wheel?

These are all examples of ways the Lord provides for us! We just have to open our eyes and see that the Lord is always working things out for our good. It may not be in the way we expect, but He's always there and always on time!

Personal Example:

Recently, I have been thinking to myself that I really want to go shopping and get more clothes that accurately reflect who I have grown to be. I was expecting the Lord to drop a $500 check in the mail for me to go shopping, but instead, He provided in a better way...

A couple weeks ago, I hosted a financial workshop for the company my husband works for. After the workshop, one of his coworkers asked if I would be ok with receiving some clothes that she's' getting rid of. I said YES, and to my surprise, they were the perfect fit, and everything was in the exact style I was looking for. There were clothes in there that still had tags on them from Zara, Express, and other nice brands.

The Lord provided through someone else's giving heart and if I had been prideful and told her no, then I wouldn't have had the perfect boots to go with my birthday outfit, or the gorgeous pants I just rocked at a dinner party.

The lesson here is to not let our pride or expectations block the Lord's provision in our lives. We must check the expectations we place on God because they can blind us from the new things He is doing for us and the prayers He is answering.

In Psalm 5:3, David says:

"In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;

    in the morning I lay my requests before you

    and wait expectantly."

The expectation here is not in the way God will show up, but in fulfilling the promise that God WILL show up for us.
