Learning how to adapt and change direction I always talk about chasing your dreams and running after your goals, but you have to also remember that not everything will always go as planned. While it is important to makes goals and have plans for your future, it is just as important to not put too much pressure on the HOW. The "HOW" and when you achieve your goals are what has the most possibility of changing over time. The action plans we make basically draw a straight line between point A (where you are now) and point B (your goal/dream)... but remember that life never moves in a straight line and you have to be prepared to adjust and adapt when these changes occur.
“Don't get hung up on the HOW, because the end goal is what matters the most" -Jada Elam
I am the queen of having high expectations and then getting disappointed when something doesn't 100% go the way I planned it to.
I know it can be disappointing, tiring, and stressful when things don't go as planned, but it is important to not let these things completely throw you off your path to achieving your goals
Consider this example... You're in California (point A) but you want to get to Virginia (point B), so you decide that the "HOW" you're going to get there is by renting a car and taking a road trip across country.
Now imagine that you're halfway to your destination and the car you're driving ends up breaking down and now you have to find another mode of transportation. You're not going to just turn around and go back home, you've come too far to turn back now, so you end up trying to find the best possible way to stay on track even though it is not HOW you originally planned to reach your point B.
When things don't go your way...
take a deep breath
recognize that you're probably a little disappointed and annoyed
then start brainstorming ways to pivot and adjust to the new circumstances
Question: What has not gone your way recently, and how did you adapt to that change?
